Every year during my summer in Nantucket I frequent the Nantucket Historical Association's Antique and Design Show. This year the show added an interesting highlight. Featured under a tent at the entrance, was a collection of designed tablescapes. Happy to be in the company of other Nantucket designers and shop owners, my table featured the colors and inspiration of the 2014 J. Butler Collection.
Just a couple of weeks ago it occurred to my wife Patty and I that we have a cluster of July birthdays on our Butler's team. So on a recent balmy summer evening we had a Butler's barbecue together at our home and celebrated. What a blessing to gather together with their spouses and children in Patty's rose garden. As I shared that evening, this team is truly an extension of our family and we are so grateful for everything they do to help us and our clients. And now that my oldest daughter Ashley is working with us, it is fun to have another generation (my grandchildren) at the table with us.
Our 16th season on Nantucket has officially begun...our doors opened to the early bird customers on June 13. The collection, "Shades from Another Isle -- Bermuda" looks fabulous in our corner boutique location.
Using words to describe a color is so difficult. Every word can conjure up a different image in someone's head. As I was thinking about the palette for Nantucket this year I had vivid memories of my travels toBermuda and the blue water and soft white and pink beaches. This year the collection began with a title, "Shades from Another Isle -- Bermuda".
