Imagine a home in the Golden Isles, a room in all neutrals with high ceilings and window treatments featuring the hand-painted fabric above. I recently spent a great morning with Poppy Orendorf of Zimmer + Rhode sifting through literally hundreds of fabric samples and two in the latest collection spoke to me.

The holiday decor at the Bernards Inn this season features a new depth of red…”cherry red” ribbon with a refined richness and sheen is woven throughout the holiday decorations. The cherry red ribbon is complemented by large red amaryllis and branches of white winterberry.
I feel that the handwritten thank you note still holds so much value and beauty in this world of quick and fast emails and texting. My attempts at handwritten notes appear like gibberish, just fragments of my thoughts but some people have a talent at expressing themselves…and attractive handwriting to accompany it.
Just like I enjoy a beautiful painting or garden, I find Oscar de la Renta's dresses and fashion designs beautiful. In New York City, walking through the Oscar de la Renta collection at Saks, I have always found inspiration...his rich color choices, the feel of the elegant fabrics, or the details of the embroidary….it has often provided the spark of a new idea.
