When I envisioned the transformation of the dining room I wanted to showcase modern entertaining and living in a traditional Georgian influenced room. At this year's Mansion in May the dining room is hosting a refreshing afternoon luncheon, "An Affair at Glynallyn." The room’s fresh color palette of putties, grays and creams is Gustavian influenced and is complimented by low sheen furniture finishes, classic silverwares, and raw accessories. My design celebrates the inherent architecture of the room, highlighted by the mantel. I chose to mix a selection of vintage and antique pieces with clean and fresh fabrics, modern sophisticated china and few selective accessories. Sometimes I find that there is beauty in restraint....restraint in accessorizing and overdoing a room that is inherently beautiful. Photo by Wing Wong/Memories TTL
Our Dining Room was featured yesterday on the Women's Association of Morristown Medical Center (WAMMC) Facebook page.
I wanted to give you an update as the room is changing. We've been painting to lighten the space and accentuate the architectural details, the existing linoleum floors have been transformed into rich hardwood, and the draperies are soon going up at the beautiful leaded glass bay window.
My affair with Glynallyn is in full swing as we are working hard to transform the linoleum floored, paint chipped, dusty dining room into a special and elegant room to celebrate.
