When I envisioned the transformation of the dining room I wanted to showcase modern entertaining and living in a traditional Georgian influenced room. At this year's Mansion in May the dining room is hosting a refreshing afternoon luncheon, "An Affair at Glynallyn." The room’s fresh color palette of putties, grays and creams is Gustavian influenced and is complimented by low sheen furniture finishes, classic silverwares, and raw accessories. My design celebrates the inherent architecture of the room, highlighted by the mantel. I chose to mix a selection of vintage and antique pieces with clean and fresh fabrics, modern sophisticated china and few selective accessories. Sometimes I find that there is beauty in restraint....restraint in accessorizing and overdoing a room that is inherently beautiful.
